Disclaimer: The European Commission will share the final decisions on the omnibus proposal on February 26.
The European Commission plans to reduce the number of companies subject to EU sustainability reporting requirements (CSRD), according to a draft seen by Reuters. The proposal raises the reporting threshold to firms with over 1,000 employees and €450 million in turnover, up from 250 employees and €40 million. It also delays due diligence rules (CSDDD) and limits assessments to direct business partners and subsidiaries, excluding subcontractors. The move responds to calls for deregulation to boost competitiveness while sparking debate on environmental and human rights commitments.
